The Macau Institute of Financial Services (MIFS), the Business Research and Training Center (BRTC) of Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau, and the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) jointly organize the “Certified Financial Management Planner™ (CFMP™) and Certified Banker (CB) Macao (Stage I) training programmes, with the kickoff ceremony held at the University of Macau on 18 September and 16 October 2021.

One of the important directions of “the Master Plan of the Development of the Guangdong-Macau Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin” is to develop modern financial services industry, which can also help Macau to achieve economic diversification. In addition, the banking, finance and wealth management industry has been digitalizing rapidly in recent years.   The trend implies higher demand and requirements for financial talents. The joint CFMP and CB training programmes reflect FBA-BRTC’s active cooperation and participation in the training and development process of local talents in the modern financial services industry, so as to assist and cope with the implementation of the “Master Plan”.

The CFMP and CB programmes and qualifications are widely recognized by the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and banks and financial institutions in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China. The CFMP and CB which were launched previously by MIFS and HKIB, are jointly organized by MIFS, UMFBA and HKIB in the current intake. It can better integrate the comparative advantages of Hong Kong and Macau in programme development, professional knowledge and expertise. The CFMP and CB modules are taught by instructors from the Macau banking and finance industry and FBA of the University of Macau with 80 and over 30 enrollments respectively. Upon completion of the modules with passed results, the participants will be awarded the “Certified Financial Management Planner™ (CFMP™) and “Advanced Diploma for Certified Banker Macao” professional qualification. The organizers (MIFS, FBA-BRTC & HKIB) will continue to organize similar training programs in the future to enhance and update the professional knowledge of practitioners and other interested parties.
